Virtual Tuesday

September 2023 – May 2024

All guild members will continue to receive the YHQG Virtual Tuesday Zoom link for the upcoming events in the weekly Saturday emails from the guild.  Since these Zooms are casual and open discussion is encouraged, they will not be recorded.  If you sign up with an “I’m In” email, then you will also receive the Virtual Tuesday re-cap after each Zoom session.  No need to enroll each month, ONCE is plenty! (And you can cancel at any time.) If you opted in last year, you will remain on the list until you ask to be removed or cease to be a YHQG member.
Finally, what topics will we cover this season?  This is where we ask YOU to let us know if you can help with any of these topics.  The more members that get involved the more we learn from each other!  If there is a topic not listed below that you would like to focus on, please please drop us an email.  This is the current list and the only topic that is definite is September.  The rest is negotiable 🙂

October: Remember Plaidish? What should we do this season?  This year YHQG is joining again with Royal City Quilters Guild and Waterloo
County Quilters Guild for a quiltalong to work on Edyta Sitar’s “Alaska Quilt”. Some of us will be participating in that and will report on our progress throughout the year. If anyone wants company on another quiltalong, please let us know so we can publish the details in Virtual Tuesday communications.

November: Tutorials for Gifts & Bags, what are your favorites?

January: Online Shopping Ins & Outs – Members’ experiences and tips? Shop Owners inside scoop?

February: Sashiko & other embroidery embellishments

March: Disappearing Quilt Blocks – What happens when you cut a pieced block?

April:  Quilt Backs – Strategies and calculations, tutorials, fabrics, etc!

May: Hand Quilting – finish up that project we kicked off in October, maybe, hopefully!

These monthly special interest group Zooms will run in a similar format to last season.  Each one will begin at 7:00 pm and end at approximately 8:30 pm, with the Zoom open until 9:00 pm for those that want to chat.  While there will be a main topic each month, we would also like to have the following recurring segments:The Scrapbook Slideshow – current Works in Progress (WIP’s), updates on Virtual Tuesday initiatives (eg., Plaidish, Kawandi etc.), progress shots of projects from past YHQG workshops, and basically all pretty pictures are welcome!YHQG Guild News, especially upcoming workshops and joint projects and events with other guildsHelp, I need opinions! – Do you have a quilty question that needs a group consult?  Send it in and we will give your issue 10 to 15 minutes of group discussion. There are no dumb questions, but you can stay anonymous if you like. On the other side, if you’ve recently learned something, please share!
Best,
Brandie Wolff & Lori Dunn
