Welcome! It is an honor to participate in the 2026 CNE exhibit. We are happy that you want to learn more about the York Heritage Quilters Guild (YHQG). Since 1979, our guild has offered a variety of activities for members year-round, with formal meetings between September and June.
YHQG Mission: We are a group of people who share a passion for quilting in a warm and open environment at our monthly meetings and other scheduled events; and by hosting challenges, charity quilting bees, quilt shows and many other events and activities which provide opportunities for members to expand their knowledge and skills.
YHQG membership activities include:
- Monthly Meetings, There are 9 meetings each season (September through August). Each with a featured speaker who will share their quilt trunk show or industry insights or other textile topics. In person meetings are held at the Toronto Botanical Garden for 5 months of the season, conducted in a hybrid format to include our Zoom members. The remaining 4 meetings are over Zoom only, You can browse through past speakers here.

Community Outreach:
This activity deserves extra attention and explanation. It is the main way to get involved and meet other guild members. There are FIVE weekly quilting gatherings, 2 online and 3 in person. In addition to working on guild projects, you can bring a personal project and work on it with other members. Our Community Quilting (CQ) program donates over 250 quilts and other items (teddy bear and doll quilts, placemats, bags, etc) to various charities each year.
What are the options to get involved?
- Meet up at any of the weekly social sewing groups (days and times here)
- You can donate a finished quilt
- You can donate a quilt top that will be finished by the CQ team
- You can pick up a quilt kit, ready to be assembled from donated fabric
