It is with great regret that the Board and Committee Chairs of York Heritage Quilters Guild announce that we are rescheduling our November 2020 quilt show to November 2021.
We are doing this for several reasons, but the primary one is the possibility that the Covid 19 pandemic will continue to have spikes into the fall, impacting on the health and safety of our members (most of us in the high risk category), our vendors and the members of the public who would be attending our show.
As you all know, it takes a lot of time and work to put together a quilt show. The cancellation of our own meetings this spring, as well as the cancellation of other quilt guild meetings and shows has impacted significantly on our ability to promote attendance at our show, to sign up volunteers, to induce people to enter their quilts, and to have people work on fundraising items. It seems unfair to ask our Quilt Show Committee and our membership generally to put in a huge amount of work while under the very real threat of cancellation.
Disappointing as it is for all of us, we think that taking a deep breath and giving ourselves a year to work through this pandemic is the right thing to do at this time.
Our show is now scheduled for November 12 and 13, 2021, at the Toronto Botanical Gardens.
On the positive side, this gives all of you more time to finish those wonderful quilts that you have planned!
Stay well and keep on quilting!
