April showers keep quilters quilting!

Don’t forget to bring you UFO quilts to the May meeting! We are all excited to see them! And mark your calendars for teh York Heritage Celebration of Quilts November quilt show.. how is your quilt coming along? The dates for the show are Friday November 10th and Saturday November 11th 2017. Pick up some postcards and give them to your friends, so they have a reminder too!

Community Quilts has been busy.. here is the latest from them:

Twenty three quilts were most gratefully received at the Community Quilting table this month alone on behalf of recipients in need.

Many thanks go out to the following for making quilts from their own stash:
Helen Fujiki (3), Ann Sutherland (3), Phoebe Visser (5), Sandra Bassett, Anne Berthelot, Elizabeth Davis, Judy Ellen, Anne Wood. Quilts were made from CQ kits or sandwiches by: Margaret Jamieson, Bob Gutcher, Elizabeth Davis, Martha Huffman, Kirsten Johnston, Tella Visconti, Sandy Moore. And thanks for fabric donations from Anna Syrydiuk, Leanne Small and Gillian Chernets.

Thirty comfort quilts were given to Dr Roz’s Healing Place in Scarborough. A quote from Dr Roz speaks to the kind of work that is carried out by this organization: “I feel it is our responsibility as leaders, and as members of society to care for, support and to help our women and children through( this) difficult time in their lives.”

The CQ table will have more of that beautiful shirting fabric as well as a box of “FREE” goodies – supporting CQ facilitates the preparation of kits and sandwiches as it funds the purchase of necessary items. A new sewing machine was recently purchased for use at the Monday CQ gatherings….Bev Stevens loves a bargain and she found one for CQ.
