Exciting news! We have added a workshop for Saturday March 12th 2016 from 10 am to 4 pm at Armour Heights Presbyterian Church, at 105 Wilson Avenue (click here for map). The workshop is being given by Jan McGoey, and the title is “Precision Hand Piecing: Castle Wall and Border Prints.” Jan was Quilter of the Month this October, and many guild members expressed interest in her techniques. Finding the right fabric is critical to her design, so template material and instructions will be available for everyone. Also available to purchase: fabric ($5/m) and/or fabric kits (~$8/kit), sufficient for one block.
Description:
Learn how to hand piece intricate 8-pointed star blocks using border prints to create unique designs. Precise “fussy-cutting” and hand piecing result in complex, one-of-a-kind blocks that can be used as a cushion cover, a centre-piece for a medallion quilt, a sampler quilt, or a kaleidoscope melange. Although the process takes time, it is not difficult and the results are worth it!
Below are some of her blocks:
Reserve your spot by emailing Annabelle yhqg.workshop1@gmail.com or register and payt at the January meeting to confirm your place in this class. Cost of the class will be $45.00 (plus fabric/kits if desired).
